Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Foothold Life (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
2. Your Account
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure. You must be old enough in your jurisdiction to enter into this agreement. One account per person, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
3. Your Content
You own what you write — journal entries, onboarding answers, milestones, chat messages, everything. We don't claim ownership. We process it as described in our Privacy Policy, including sending relevant parts to an AI provider to power the companion feature, and we store sensitive fields encrypted at rest.
4. Acceptable Use
Don't use the Service to plan, describe, or facilitate anything illegal, to harass or harm others, or to impersonate Foothold Life or its team. Onboarding and account content is automatically screened for exactly this — content flagged as genuinely harmful, unethical, or illegal can result in your account being locked. Don't attempt to circumvent rate limits, plan-based feature limits, or security controls.
5. The AI Companion
The AI companion is a tool, not a professional advisor — it doesn't replace medical, legal, financial, or mental-health professionals, and you shouldn't treat its output as such. It can make mistakes. Where enabled for your plan, it can take actions on your account (adding to-dos, milestones, or entries) on your explicit instruction; you're responsible for reviewing what it does.
6. Plans, Limits, and Payment
Free and paid plans have different feature sets and usage limits, described on our Pricing page. Limits (like the number of projects or open to-dos) exist to keep the Service sustainable and are enforced automatically. Paid plan changes and billing are handled as communicated at signup or by an admin.
7. Termination
You can stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or lock accounts that violate these Terms, including accounts flagged by our content-safety checks, with the reason communicated to you where possible.
8. Disclaimers & Liability
The Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
